Hebrews 4:14-16

Hebrews 4:14-16

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16

Those feelings of being unable to control aspects of life, of being weak or simply not good enough – that is God’s truth being revealed to our hearts. It’s a painful truth. Instead of denying it, instead of allowing it to tear us apart, it can become our joy and peace. That aching is an opportunity to run into the arms of God. It is a reminder that He is all that we are not. We were never meant to be in control; we are meant to surrender our false sense of control. We were never meant to be strong, nor can we be. God’s power is shown through our weakness. We are not enough, but Christ is more than enough. He is our sufficiency. When fear says we are being rejected, allow God’s perfect love to dispel that lie. We are being wooed by the Holy Spirit. Embrace that beckoning. Draw near to God.
